There's no better time to discover it than during the Fano Carnival , when, in the dead of winter, the city lights up with color, music, and smiles along the streets of the historic center and, above all, along Viale Gramsci , the event's main stage.
In 2026 the Fano Carnival will be even more special : in addition to the traditional three large parades of allegorical floats, an extra Sunday will be added , entirely dedicated to the little ones with the Children's Carnival .

The ancient origins of the Fano Carnival
Legend has it that Carnival was born in Fano in the Middle Ages, on the occasion of the reconciliation of the city's two most important families: the Del Cassero and the Da Carignano . Documents from 1765 already testify to the presence of popular games, races, and the famous Getto , a traditional symbol of the Fano Carnival.
Over the centuries, the Getto has transformed: from the confetti thrown carelessly by nobles, to the colorful and delicious toss of chocolates and sweets that today involves thousands of spectators.
It is no coincidence that the motto of the festival is:
“The sweetest in Italy since 1347.”
The allegorical floats and the evening show
The allegorical floats of the Fano Carnival are true papier-mâché giants , travelling stages born from the creativity of the master float designers.
The parade is divided into three moments:
presentation of the floats,
the long-awaited Getto ,
the evening parade, when the floats are illuminated with lights and scenic effects.
Accompanying the whole thing are masks, music, and dance groups that engage the audience in a unique atmosphere.
Children's Carnival: An Extra Sunday for Families
Among the most beloved guests of the Fano Carnival are undoubtedly children. The Children's Carnival is dedicated to them, with masked parades, entertainment, music, and creative workshops.
In 2026, thanks to the additional Sunday, families can experience Carnival more peacefully , without giving up the great parades of allegorical floats.
