It has always been like this, everyone who enters the reception of Palazzo Rotati and looks towards the kitchen cannot help but enter.
It will be the imposing carpenter's table in the center or perhaps the window reminiscent of those of the castles , or simply the warmth that this environment gives off…. when I enter I feel at home, even if in my house I don't find the smells I feel here, let alone the flavors …. Do you already smell the sweet smell in the oven? O of freshly baked bread? Or some meat mixed with the flavor of spices that Gabriela has sent from places unknown to me.
And if you are not too distracted by these sensations, you can see in front of the crackling stove a pillow over which someone is choking. It is Jack, Gabriela's dog who, while blissfully buzzing, is always ready to get up to welcome all those who ring the bell of the building making the races to get there before the others.
Peeking in this kitchen means peeking into Gabriela's life, because cooking for her is an expression, a story of herself where words are the foods that arouse emotions , memories and, often, well-being and serenity.
She likes to express feeling, affection, gratitude, friendship, care for a person by preparing food, making jams and preserves , giving good things. It gives her serenity and joy to generate well-being, happiness and amazement with food.
Its kitchen is practically as large as a studio apartment and is a mixture of ancient and modern objects, technology and tradition.
I have my own theory about the size of the kitchen that connects it with the desire for relationships. I believe that wanting to have a great kitchen means wanting to be together, building deep relationships and ties and this is what Gabriela has always done.
